This was our competition entry into Barcelona 2011 - Tower in Gothic Quarter, an international architecture competition, which we managed to freaking win!
Prizes include $3500USD and a ticket to Barcelona in June with accommodation to accept our award.
This started out as a university design project, and our coordinator thought it'd be a good way of showing us the ropes when it came to competitions. We had a month to do it and then the top four were submitted into the real competition with registration fees paid for. I worked on this with my friend.
Design requirements called for a 100m tall contemporary bohemian backpacker's hostel in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter, to accommodate 100 backpackers, and demonstrate zero-ecological impact. It also had very strict area requirements that we had to show compliance with.
I'm glad you won it - congrats!!
How does it work structurally??
Good question! We were recently nominated for a structural innovation prize (winner is yet to be announced) and we had to prepare a structural report, so it's all fresh in my mind
By "details", do you mean of this project? Or competitions in general? ^^
Well laid out board too! Great use of the ground section to frame the more informative parts of the concept. Beautiful renders too
